Being Apart

He doesn’t see the tears that fall
Lonely and silently on the pillow
The endless nights tossing and turning
Waking up in search of him

He doesn’t hear the prayers to God
Spoken every night for him
Pleading to keep him safe and sound
To give him strength and courage

He doesn’t know about the thoughts
So many each day, dedicated to him
Wishing he could sense them
And the love that grows each day

He doesn’t feel the kisses
The ones being sent each night
Hoping they might reach him
To cure the bruises of his loneliness

Hey, Im new and i just read your poem... it was awesome it made me cry.. im dating a marine right now and he is only in basic training but it is so hard not to see the one you love everyday... I cant wait till he comes home! thanks again

I love the reference to the prayers sent for him and the kisses too. The imagery matches perfectly... You are a tough girl and I am very glad to see someone else with the strength to stand by our men : )
