HEY LADIES!
I wasn't sure where to post this, just a poem I adore, and sometimes I randomly read it, I have it in a picture frame on my bureau near my hunnies picture and get little teary eyed I'll admit. Many may have read it before but thought I'd pass it on, I tried to do it at our new site but didnt see how so I'll just post it here for anyone who's interested!
LOVING A MARINE
Loving a Marine is not always gay
Loving him truly is a high price to pay.
It's being alone with nothing to hold,
It's being young, but feeling old.
It's loving him whisper his love for you,
It's whispering back, you love him too.
There's always a kiss and a promise for more,
As his ship slowly glides away from the shore.
Reluctantly, painfully, letting him go,
While you're dying inside from wanting him so.
Watching him leave with eyes filled with tears,
Standing alone with your hopes, dreams, and fears.
It's sending a letter with the stamp upside down,
To a far away love, in a far away town.
It's going to church, to kneel and to pray,
And really meaning the things that you say.
Days go by - no mail for a spell,
You wait for some word to hear that he is well.
Then a letter arrives and you're given in,
To open this letter and read with a grin.
Yes, he is well and misses you so,
And filled with the love you wanted to know.
Weeks are like months, and months like years,
You wait for the day you'll have no more fears.
Days go by slowly - how many have passed?
Then suddenly you realize it's here at last!
Yes loving a Marine isn't much fun,
But it's worth the price when the battle is won.
And remember he is thnking of you every day,
He's sad, he's lonely, while so far away.
So love him and miss him and hold your head high,
Be strong and have faith - wipe that tear from your eye.
Your man is a Marine, like those who have gone before,
It's a high price to pay for loving a Marine!

I LOVE IT!!!! IT IS GREAT! hERE IS ONE TO
When A Marine Goes To Heaven
You can keep your Army Khaki,
You can keep your Navy Blue.
I have the worlds best fighting man,
To introduce to you.
His Uniform is different,
The best you've ever seen.
The Germans call him "Devil Dog,"
His real name is "Marine."
He was born on Parris Island*,
The place where God Forgot.
The sand is eighteen inches deep,
The sun is blazing hot.
He gets up every morning,
Before the rising sun.
He'll run a hundred miles and more,
Before the day is done.
*or at San Diego
He's deadly with a rifle,
A bayonet made of steel.
He took the warrior's calling card,
He's mastered how to kill.
And when he gets to Heaven
St. Peter he will tell,
One more Marine reporting sir,
I've served my time in Hell.
So listen all you young girls,
To what I have to say:
Go find yourself a young Marine,
To love you every day.
He'll hug you and he'll kiss you,
And treat you like a queen.
There is no better fighting man:
THAN A UNITED STATES MARINE!

| Oh...I love this poem! My boyfriend is due to depart to Iraq on January 3rd. I am dreading this day, but I admire him for being so courageous to go over and fight for this wonderful country. Any words of wisdom from you ladies who already have men over there. And what you did to prepare for the day. I want my man to know how much he means to me...but have no ideas

Some people think we're too good to be true.
But thats because they don't get to be loved by you.

A Poem for My Marine
By: Amanda D.
No better friend, no better love
A bad boy yet a good man
Strong inside and out
With a gentle heart and hand
Too easy it is to fall for him
And see your future in his eyes
Not worrying then of times to come
Not thinking of goodbyes
So there you stand with dogtags on
Worn close around your neck
Waving goodbye to him and praying
For the day that bus comes back
Then its lonely nights in bed
Waiting for the phone to ring
Dreaming of the times you've had
Remembering everything
You wait for letters sent by him
And cherish every word he writes
Reading them each over again
To help get through the lonesome nights
You wake up to midnight phone calls
To hear how he has been
And say "I love you" enough times to last
Until you talk to him again
You do your best to tough it out
Without a shoulder on which to lean
Smiling while thinking of how it feels
To fall in love with your Marine!
Thank you for your poem my boyfriend is a Marine and he just left to California to Drill Instructor school and I miss him very much. Reading the poem made me realize how proud I am of him and that I am willing to wait for him until his service is over. I hope you also like this poem that I found on a website. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS.
