What is the reason.... posted: 03/13/06 at 1:31 AM

I havent been on here in forever it seems, and dont actually think I've posted in this area. My fiance and I are in an LDR also, but no where near the time and distance that some of you have to be apart. He is gone for 6-8 weeks, then gets to come home for 2-4 days, then back again. Its really hard, but I consider myself lucky compared to some of the other posters on here, so thats why I dont come here to rant and rave.
Anyway, after browsing through the posts, I was just wondering the reasons that some of you are apart. For my fiance and I, its because of his job. Where we live, there are no decent paying jobs and we cant survive on $6.00/ hour from fast food or something, so he travels with his job. Right now he is in Alabama (10 hours away) and he's been gone for about 7 weeks. He is coming home this weekend though because on Monday, OUR BABY WILL BE BORN!!!!!! We're really excited, but looking forward to when he can be home all the time...going to be harder now that the baby is coming.
So anyway, I was just curious as to some of the reasons why you have to be away from your sweeties.

When my hubby and I were in a LDR it was because we grew up in different countries. He grew up in India and moved to the US at 17 due to better education. Been here ever since and practivally got americanized over the past 12 years.
I grew up in Germany and after finishing my education over there and after being in a LDR for 2.5 yrs I did the big step and moved over here to the US with him. Lived together for about 2.5 more years (I got a student visa) and just got married last October with both his and my parents being here (most likely the first and last time the parents met lol).
So thats the reason.

We met online; he's in WI and I'm in Toronto, Canada. We're working on ways to be together permanently, but I'm still finishing up school, so that's put a definite wait period to it.
I'll be spending the month of May in WI though

My guy and I met via the net through business and we live in two different countries.
While we are engaged, we are waiting to hear about admissions to University for my son. If he is accepted to this program (entering Univeristy two years early), we will start the visa process for my guy to immigrate here. If not, we are going there and hopefully I will go the grduate school in the UK.
I hope all goes well, BTW, with the birth of your baby Congrats! Your child/ren are your greatest joy (until they turn into teenagers that is, lol.......j/k....kinda

Jeff and I met while he was here for his job, he's in the Air Force and I'm a student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He's located in Japan for another 2 years and I have about a year of school left. So, for now we just plan for me to finish school and him to come back to the US. We try and see each other as much as we can throughout the year. He'll be coming to visit at the end of May for about 3-4 weeks, WOOHOO!!!
Congratulations on your baby coming soon.

congratulations for you and your soon to be here baby!
my boyfriend actually lived about 10 minutes down the road from me, we met through friends and just hit it off. He got a job contract in another country last November which lasts for 5 months.....we hadn't been together for that long at that point, so it was a complete blow to me that he was going....but he's doing really well out there which makes me really proud, we send emails and call whenever we can, it helps a lot...I also have a lot of support from people back home which is great!
3 1/2 months down, only another 1 1/2 months to go!!! YAY!

| my husband and i met on the net a few years ago...we were still in high school.we met after graduation..he is now in the marines...has been going back and forth from the US and other countries...it's hard..but we get through it...like i always say LDR make a realtionship stronger..becuase you only have conmmunication...and the best thing a realtionship could have is communication..so it's best in the long run..if that makes any sense.....

We met online and met in person last summer. He's back home in my country, Pakistan. The reason we are apart because I live here in the U.S. and going to college and his family is there.
So, because of school and him trying to get himself financially stable, we are in this hell of an LDR!!! * sighs*

| We met online over 5 yrs. ago now. I'm from the U.S. and he's from India. He was already planning on leaving the country to further his education when we first met so, being that we got along so perfect that first day and planned on meeting in the future, I think I helped him seal the deal on which country to choose. 7 mos. later he was here. Even while he was here, we were still seperated by a 4 hr drive, but he had to take care of some business and returned to his country since and has been there for 2 yrs. For plenty of reasons now, some obvious, some personal, he just has to be there and I just have to be here.

| I met my bloke while I was in sixth form while I was living at home, I'm now at university about 300 miles away (it was the only place that does my particular degree!) It could be a lot worse because I do get to spend my summers with him, but it's still so hard being away from the one you love (as I know you all know!) but I graduate in about 13 months so I'll be straight back to be with him!

This is my first post. My boyfriend of one and half years left two days ago and I am already having a horrible time! I thought it would be a good idea to find people like me, so maybe it would help?! That's what I am hoping....
Anyways, the reason why my boyfriend and I are in a LDR for 7 months is because he is currently on an internship/job thing that he got because he just graduated with this college this term. He will be on the other side of the country (Florida), and I am currently in Oregon. I, on the other hand, am not finished with college until December of this year...so it sucks because I feel like I was left behind. But I know 7 months really isn't all that long compared to other people on here, but it's still very hard for me and I cannot stop crying! When does it start to get better?
