A True Navy Poem-let me know what you think posted: 04/01/05 at 7:58 PM

Here is a poem i just made. I hope you can all relate to it in some way.
Standing in the frozen terminal, I prepare for it again.
His blue embroidered Navy bag is resting at my feet.
Tightly placed inside I set a secret note,
To remind him of the everlasting love we share.
His shoes are freshly polished,
And his pants neatly pressed by mother,
As we sit sharing hands, I remind myself to breathe
“Now boarding seating area 2”
I hear a voice echoing in my mind as he rises from waiting.
My heart stops beating and I sense the tears forming.
His broad hand reaches for his bag,
As it lightly brushes my leg.
I am quickly reminded of last night’s warmth,
And the promises we made.
He helps my weak knees stand as we both try not to cry.
He whispers his love to me as we securely embrace.
I remind myself to stay strong,
Because he needs the support.
So I straighten his hat and fight back the tears,
Give him a tender kiss, as he heads for the tunnel doors.
He gives me one last wink as I slowly melt inside.
I realize I will never stop loving my Navy man,
He is devoted, strong and filled with pride
(I love you Doug)

Lauren,
I think everyone who has a loved one that has walked away at at terminal can relate and those who have not can only imagine. It brought me back when Jason left for Iraq...that was the hardest thing I ever had to do and I think now we have to just wait and remember that the best thing in the world will be to see them walking back towards us!!
Thanks for sharing, it was wonderful.
God bless,
Catherine

Hey my name is Kailey, and I was just browsing around this website when I noticed your poem && your adorable picture. It reminds me of me and my boyfriend of one year & half. He just left for the NAVY July 27th. So this is all new to me, but I miss him so much, and thats exactly how i felt when he left. I had to watch him elave with his last wink goodbye. I'm 16 & he's 18. I really love your poem, I just thought I'd comment.
