The master sleuth is back to tangle with the intellectually equal criminal himself, Professor Moriarty, the "Napoleon of Crime." While Holmes is trying to send off his dear friend, Watson on a wedding and honey moon with his bride to be, the plot thickens when Holmes sticks his nose in the wrong man's business. Now the professor goes after him and his friend with vengeance and Holmes must stop his plot to cause a world war before it happens...
This was rated lower than the original film, but I still tended to like it a lot. It is definitely more violent and gripping than the first, with still the charm that Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law brings to the screen. I always enjoyed the special effects/style that they used in these films as well as the particularly atmospheric, mysteriously curious music that creeps in. The only bad thing is it does tend to spoon feed you which makes the mystery too easily palpable when its served on a platter (as well as some details that are left out miraculously as if the director choose to exclude the audience on Holmes little charade in order to tie some loose ends]. Holmes is exactly how he should be and in his element combating intellectually throw for throw with a mastermind criminal.
