If you seen my previous posts me and DH started trying for a baby on Nov. 22. My cycle is usually 34-35 days long. I have been trying to monitor my fertility with basal thermometer and the OPK. Monday this week the OPK started to show signs of fertility (two solid dark lines). I started to track my progress on the website fertilityfriend.com which showed me my possible ovulation day is wednesday. Me and DH had sex everyday up to and including wednesday. My OPK has been showing sign of fertility but the basal temperature is not indicating signs of ovulation. I took my basal today and the OPK. OPK was positive and basal was 97.64 so my chart based on temperature shows that ovulation STILL did not occur. I had a lot of egg white mucus on wednesday so I assumed I ovulated which was CD20. I am confused because my OPK shows positive, I got the correct mucus but my basal chart shows no detection in ovulation. Also I took the OPK today and yesterday and it shows positive results. Me and DH did not have sex yesterday and I hope to have today because I am not sure what is going on with the temperature chart. Could I have ovulated and the chart did not detect it? My period was always regular, never took a pill, I am a healthy weight and in my 20's.

I guess my question is, could I have ovulated on CD20 (wednesday) and my basal temperature is wrong (I take it after I wake up, use the bathroom etc.) or is my basal temperature is correct and OPK are wrong and I did not ovulate yet? I am new to the whole charting thing and really confused.

You are supposed to take your basal temperature before getting out of bed- as soon as you wake up thermometer goes in your mouth. When you get up and go to the bathroom and all that you aren't getting an accurate reading. Specially if you are taking your temp 5-10 minutes later.

Trust me I'm doing the same thing right now and it's such a PAIN to pop the thermometer in your mouth and wait till the temperature reads... I hate doing it lol.

If the OPK test said you are ovulating you are ovulating. that stick measures actual hormones. The basal thermometer & the chart take educated guess about your ovulation.

One your fertility date passes if you have had sex you have to wait for 2 whole weeks. It sucks. You should assume you are pregnant & not drink, avoid caffeine & other prohibited foods (Soft cheese etc) In two weeks you can take a home pregnancy test. The other stuff can be psycho-somatic -- you want to be pregnant so you read the signs to believe you are.

At this point you have tried once (1 cycle not 1 sex act). Don't get your hopes up. CW says if you are under 30 you can & should try for over a year before becoming worried. Stress makes it less likely that you will conceive so try to just enjoy ithe intimacy with your DH.

Hmmmm..abt the thermometer, why not use a ear thermometer then? my bestie who is trying for a baby is using a ear thermometer to monitor her basal temp every morning, just 2seconds check and she is back to sleep,lol..anyway,i dun have much experience abt temp monitoring and i never use an opk before so i cant provide much infos here but i think a ear thermometer might be something good to invest for those trying unless the body temp must be taken orally, i dunno..

UPDATE: More light spotting (brown discharge) about 11 days before my actual period is due. Had some cramping through out the day and headaches that come and go.
Really confusing.
