Yes, that works too. However the girth on a zucchini is at the tip where as on a cuke it is down a bit. I guess it would come down to personal preference; taking the entire girth right off the bat (zuke) or working up to it (cuke). I believe my wife likes to have some inside her while she slowly grinds/fu*cks her way down to the maximum girth.
