Since my boyfriend was denied entry into Canada for writing a bad check and it's only been two years, he has to file for a temporary residents visa. Upon looking into the 20 pieces of documentation you need, another requirement is "three letters of reference from responsible citizens (parole board, public officials, respectable private citizens, clergymen)."
I've researched online to find out what exactly to put in said reference letter but can't exactly find it. Would it be similar to one filled out while applying for a job or school? Also, are teachers, professors or a therapist considered to be a "responsible citizen"?
Any insight would be wonderful!

| Certainly in Australia working teachers and professors would be accounted respectable and responsible citizens, as would properly qualified and working therapists. The reference would be a personal type one- ie as to his character. If it was me I would avoid a reference from a therapist, as it might indicate negative factors about his health that he has one. Has he an employer, or does he rent from someone?
