I am really excited and happy -- and wanted to jump head first into making plans.
My mom and his mom are both happy, but neither are really excited about it. I've been all over pinterest like a mad woman pinning and planning. I sent them both invites to comment and post to my planning boards. Neither have accepted and it has been 2 weeks now.
My best friend is getting married in March and seems to take mild offense at any focus I want to put on my own wedding. I totally understand and respect this, so she's out of the equation, so to speak.
My sister got engaged 3 days before me (to a guy she's been dating 2 months, sigh) so she has her own thing going on, and her engagement is such a joke that it sort of numbs the family to the whole "wedding" thing. Any time I bring it up they all suddenly remember her bad decisions.
And my fiance is so laid back that he really doesn't care and he isn't giving me any input on setting a firm date.
So here I am all excited by myself with no one to share my excitement with -- all the wedding websites I've visited are filled with hateful old shrews who just want to sit around bickering and belittling one another. I think they get a nickel for every time they use the word "tacky" or make someone cry.
The Knot is pretty vicious. Try your local board there if you must. The Wedding Channel has much nicer people but fewer posts / excitement.
I too was pretty let down by how uninterested other people seemed in my wedding. My BFFs indifference hurt but I got over it. In the end it's one day; your marriage is the important thing.
This board is nice & we will get excited for you & with you. Enjoy this time together. WP is stressful so hang on to FI & be grateful he's laid back.
