| My SO's parents are very old school and want him to marry a Serbian woman. He doesn't want to. He would much rather be with some like me (his own words). I have met his parents a few times and there doewsn't seem to be an issue but I know what they think. Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue? My parents like him.

| It's nice to know I am not alone in this. Seems the only differences we have is that mine is an only child so no siblings to meet, his friends all like me (actually said I was cool in my presence, and the sister of one friend agrees) and I have met his parents. It's just that I know what they prefer him to do and so does my SO. He was born here, his parents weren't. So he doesn't see the issue thankfully for me. I really hope the parents in both our situations have ..... well not the sense really..... maybe the realization that you can't help who you love and try to accept whoever thier sons choose regardless of whether they are the same ethnicity or religion as long as they are happy. Isn't that the main thing?
