I got to see this last weekend. Super 8 is about a group of children that are filming a zombie movie with their super 8 millimeter camera when an air force train crashes into a massive wreck right in front of them. The children learn there is something on that train...something big and ever since the wreck, things have been going haywire. Dogs are running away, electricity is going on and off, electronics are disappearing and on top of that, the air force is in town....to cover it up.
This movie was definitely not a climatic movie, it has a lot of small bell climaxes and mostly is a solemn type of mystery. It was still good though and I enjoyed it very much. Definitely leaned more on story than action as it focuses around the kids, the main kids parents and the mystery of thing inside of the train. You can tell it had a lot of spielberg touch to it.
There was a review online that stated the "monster" wasnt scary looking enough, but frankly I dont think he was meant to be scary looking. The premise and the monsters role was not meant to be scary, you were meant to understand, maybe sympathize.
I would give this movie an 8/1O only because there were moments where it got a bit slow.
