| Hey you guys! Ok so I'm not new to this cyber romance thing but I am to the idea of a webcam! Maybe it sounds stupid but it makes me a bit nervous. In my previous relationship we never used a cam, just exchanged pictures and everything was fine but my new guy made the suggestion that we start talking that way and use the webcam. I went ahead and purchased one but have yet to use it. We have exchanged tons of photos as well but for some reason the thought of talking and having the webcam there kind of freaks me out a little and I don't really know why. I'm meeting him in person in just a few weeks and I'm not even as nervous about that as I am the idea of the stupid webcam, go figure!!!

| Haha maybe that is part of the problem!! I don't want to worry about doing my hair and makeup and having the house clean everytime I talk to him online!! Not that he would care I'm sure but I wouldn't look like crap the first time he saw me that way. I guess I'm just camera shy really though. Maybe it will just take some getting used to.

I never use a webcam, hate the things.
He knows i'm not happy with them so never asks.

I would one unhappy camper without the cam.. I LOVE it.
My guy and I are 4500 miles apart and it really helps to bridge the distance. I get to experiance his facial expressions when he laughs at my jokes, or sympathizes when I have had a bad day, or I am worrying over my son Emoticons or winks over MSN cannot even compare (though we still use them, especially the ones on MSN you can add your own text to). If I stretch my imagination, it is like we are in the same room since we both have broadband, and we both are wireless as well, so we take each other from room to room if we are getting projects done while we are plugged into MSN chat.
THe nervousness will dissapate quickly, you will see, and then you will never want to be without it.
I never worry about make-up, etc, as my guy has seen me plenty without it him having been here 4 times and me there once. So he has seen me at my "worst", believe me.
Cams can take your relationship to another level, IMO.

We TRUST each other and yet WE never used them. Do you know everything you send on a web cam can be saved and resent to another recipiant.
I don't know. It's up to you but to me and my guy it wasn't a necessity.
When we were together online we would connect through microphone and headset.
We'd be in constant comunication and still be able to explore internet.
We both had our PC's in the bedroom and we went to sleep with the headsets on.
When times messenger went out I found I was unable to sleep because I could no longer hear his slight snore.

With me,when i had my webcam, i moved out from my boarding house so i didn't have internet connection at that time. I didn't install for a long time. my husband never saw me when we were just friends and i never saw him either but we used to talk on voice chat quite many times.
After i broke up with my ex and already moved on, one night i was bored. and i noticed the box of my webcam that i haven't installed. so, i installed it and i figured out how to use it and for a while i had fun with it taking bunches of pictures ,saved them to the disc and took them to the internet cafe and sent them to my husband. every week when i went to chat with him ,i would bring pictures of me. and after i moved back to my boarding house, i got internet connection, i turned on my cam and my husband was surprised to see me but not 'that' surprised anymore coz i already sent him bunches of pictures from the cam and from different angle.
and I myself,i think coz i've been taking pictures with the cam and had fun with it, when I turned it on, there's no nervous feeling at all. mainly coz i already KNEW how to make me look a weeeeee bit better in front of cam lmao. so, you can try that trick. be your own 'model' ,take pictures, with make up, with no make up ,just get up, just take a shower, with different color of lipsticks, etc.
i was just that bored lol
It only took me a month to get bored of it. after that, i hate turning it on again. dunno why. when i moved to U.S ,i sold my pc plus my webcam.

I would have to say that my cam has been an absolute savior. I was a bit nervous at first -- more speaking on my mic to him than anything. But, we used the webcams on MSN video chat back and forth until he came to the US to visit me, and now I am planning a visit to the UK to visit him this time. If I didn't have my cam (and he his) to see one another on a daily basis I think we would both go pretty nuts. Especially when one of us is having a lousy day...we can snap the other one out of it quite quickly with a big smile and an "I love you." (For those at that stage anyway)

My online bf and I pretty much met on webcam. I have used a cam for the past 6 years! We love being able to voice chat or talk on the phone while watching each other. We love being able to see each other smile. Unfortunately he's in the military and deployed to another country with no access to his own internet for 6 months so live cam is out of the question. We do however manage to make video clips and send them to each other! There are so many ways to use a webcam like some of the other have mentioned. It can truly enhance your online relationship.
Just try it and don't worry about all the small stuff. Let the person get to know you and like you for who you are not what your hair and your house looks like.

| If it makes you feel any better, perhaps wait till after you meet him and see how that goes before bridging to webcams. I think they're ok sometimes. Sometimes I love them, other times I hate them. I just get ticked cause both me and my guy have them, and just like anything, he will rarely ask to use them, but that's probably because he always wants me to turn mine on while he never seems to have his with him. He took it to his office to use when he was coming online from there, but now that he comes online from home, he always seems to forget to bring it with him. I think twice he did. He never has been the one much for sending pics or using cams. I think he's gorgeous and I would love to see him as much as I can.

yeah web cam is great but has its pit falls...I dont like it in my face as well if Im feeling camera shy...but when Im not and I love it like a movie star!!

You can see yourself in a smaller box..so you can see how you look and if you ned to do your hair etc...
I dont like the lighting on web cam as its a bit funny...just try it by yourself first before you actually go on line with it and have a play...
Firstly when we did it we keep the camera on and still typed on msn as we both were a bit shy to talk...
before that we did "telephone style chat" so we knew how to talk to each other and stuf...
Just take it slowly and you will be fine....just use it on special occasions if you like...we dont use ours all the time...i feel on text msn you can talk alot freer than if you do if your in person or webcam...all three styles have different benifits and so does email...if you dont want to be bailed up with them all the time on msn...he hee
I can wait to get off the computer into real life!

me and my bf use the web cam all the time, we just bought them recently. He got his first, and the next day i went out and bought mine cause i didnt think it was fair. Its alot different. I get to see things about him that i wouldnt have before, like the way he smiles and when he turned it on so my parents could see him, he got all nervous and started turning a bit red lol, it was cute. But yeah i think it brought us closer because we see the more real us.
It is a little nerve racking at first, but i just figured, this is me, hes gonna have to see me at some point, better now before he buys the plane ticket, comes over here and is disappointed, even though he has seen a ton of pix of me, lol i have the angles.

It's simply a software program that records and saves as a video file a webcam through msn, yahoo, aim etc. The person who is being recorded is none the wiser.
