| I've tried the net dating thing a couple of times. Didn't work out so well for me. I just met a really nice guy online. We talk quite frequently online as well as on the phone. He's expressed interest in perhaps a relationship. Due to prior bad experiences I'm reluctant. He's gonna come over this weekend just to chill and watch some movies. I was just hoping maybe some of you had some success stories about internet dating.

Met a guy online in 1998, then met IRL a few months later and have been together ever since. 7 years married and still acting like love sick newlyweds.

| We met in a chatroom in May 2003 and met IRL 2 months later. We will hopefully be moving in together this year.

not yet, I checked out some local guys on the net but yahoo personals wouldn't let me reply to them cos I'm not quite 18 yet even though I created an account  oh well they probably weren't all that great anyway, I hope I meet some1 better for real

talked on the phone sept 00
met October 00 (he was in Florida, I was in germany)
met several times again
(me finishing education)
moving over to live with him 2003
just got married last October and celebrated out 1/2yr anniversary yesterday

I actually met my ex online not knowing that we lived within 20 min of one another. We were together about 5 years and although the end was a little rough, it was more of a learning experience that we just weren't meant for one another. We're still friends now.
The guy I am seeing now lives in the UK. We randomly met in a video/voice chat program (both convinced we were destined to be single) and he came to visit me in the US 6 weeks later. I'm now going to meet his family in the UK in less than a month and I'm working on getting a work-visa to teach overseas.
This one's definitely a keeper. ;-)

22 Jul 08 - passport returned w/ shiny visa sticker!!
31 Jul 08 - flight to UK!!! WOOOO!
01 Nov 08 - WE GOT MARRIED!!
03 Nov 08 - FLR(M) approved!! I now have a Residence Permit!!

Well.. I'm not married to my guy yet lol.
I met him in 2002.
Dated in 2003.
Still together in 2006.
We do plan on getting engaged and all.. but I'm still reasonably young.. he wants to get engaged sometime next year when I'm a senior.
I hope things work out well for you.

| Thx for all the replies. It was good to hear about all of your success. Just thought I'd let you know what happened this weekend. Yesterday he went to an annual football game at my high school with me. Then he came back to my house with me and a few of my friends. We had a blast just talking, eating, and watching movies. We're planning on going out this weekend. So wish me luck!!! Thx again.

i just got back from a 5 day trip meeting her for the first time IRL.
It was perfect. Absolutely amazing. She's coming to meet my parents with me over the 4th of july holiday.
I'm going to post something longer, but it was perfect. We've been talking for about 7 months, and I just had to meet her.

| i've tried online net dating and its a scam, big time. For me those sites should be terminated off the net for good. They dont work at all, i was with one for 3 years and i used it constantly, yet it dont work. Mailing systems are rubbish, the idea of winking is another naff way to get attention, really really poor service. Thank god my latest subscription ran out, not doing that again.
