hey everyone

Recently I did laser hair removal on my face. btw, i don't have much hair on my face, nothing to talk about really, but still being concious, i decided to get it done. usually i just bleach or wax according to how i feel.

i went to get the procedure done. now i might add one of the determining factors of getting it done was that a family member is trained in doing it and i was getting it done free.

so she did my upper lip and chin. needless to say it was PAINFUL, like little shocks and i was left burnt and scarred. i put some post laser cream and the burnt skin began to peel off.

my skin is still a bit dark though. it was terrible having to go out. nothing could hide those burn marks. i felt so embarassed.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Is it suppose to be this way? or is it just me?

I was told that since I have tanned skin, it is a bit more difficult since the laser had to go through than totally white skin since I have slightly more pigmentation.

Any thoughts?

I find this topic very interesting as I have been contemplating lazor treatment for some time. Up to now I have only heard of good comments. Of course my experience is only based on tv programes.

I did get it done.

First of all, you have to go to a laser clinic that is run by a dermatologist. Yes, it's more expensive. But if something goes wrong (or that you need a post treatment cream), the skin specialist is there.

Also, you mentionned pain. I suppose your family member that did the treatment didn't tell you that you should put Emla cream before the treatment? For at least 45 minutes before treatment, the cream has to be put on. Elma numbs the epiderm, so the treatment is more bearable.

Another thing I wish to say: The darker the hair, the best results. Lazer doesn't work on fair hair (blonde etc...) The more pigmentation, the best results. That is proven and straight to the point. So to say that it has to go through white skin, that is totally wrong.

Yes, it's more expensive going to a dermatologist office to get the laser done. But it's worth it.

My personal opion and please don't take it wrong: It seems to me that your family member that is trained to do laser treatment is not very skilled

LOL, hahahaha

no she didn't. the thing is she did other parts of me and it turned out alright. it's just my face that got messed up. it's started fading now. the thing is she did soap stars before, so i know she knows what she's doing, but i just don't know what happened to me.

I have had it done on my bikini area. It is very painful but works for me. I was also told that the more tan you are the easier it is to burn you. So it is better to have light skin and dark hair. Definitely worth it not to have to wax or get ingrown hairs anymore though!
